Matthew 9:35-38

Scripture:

Matthew 9:35-38

Observation:

Jesus went through many towns and villages teaching and healing people. The crowds stirred up compassion in Him as He saw them like “sheep without a shepherd”. Jesus tells His disciples that the “harvest is plentiful but the workers are few”. He told them to pray that God would send more who are willing to share His message of love, hope and salvation.

Application:

At the end of this chapter Matthew speaks of the works and commission of Jesus Christ. Every one of us are very important to God.  Jesus didn’t stop because He was facing adversity from the Pharisees and Scribes. Jesus knew the importance of salvation for all. It was the will of God that Jesus was sent to save mankind. It is important that we share the Gospel.

Sadly there are so many lost souls today. Some seeking an answer to life’s problems. Some are not seeking because they have lost all hope. Jesus talks of them as “sheep with no shepherd”. Sheep without a shepherd go astray helpless and exposed to dangers. For those who don’t know of the love, hope and grace found in Jesus they wander around life in the same way.

We are all disciples of the Lord. A disciple is a learner, one who follows both the teaching and the teacher. It is important that the lost learn of true salvation in Jesus Christ. The lost will accept love and compassion better than criticism.

Say to yourself today, “I am important to my Heavenly Father.” If we look back where God has brought us from, every one of us has a different story to tell. Every one of us can speak words to someone that is lost. God can and will use us to reach people that other people might not be able to reach.

When we have the chance to share the gospel we shouldn’t let the chance pass us by. We never know how someone lost or saved might be impacted by Jesus working through us and our hearts. Sharing the Gospel may keep the drug addict from overdosing or the person fighting alcoholism from taking their next drink. The list goes on and on. Remember that you are important to God!

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, thank you for all that You do for me. Raise up another young generation of believers so that Your gospel can be shared. Help me this day to have compassion on those You will put in my path. Help me to continue to learn Your ways. Please give me wisdom and understanding as I study Your word. Whatever Your will is for me, I believe that You will give me the ability to fulfill it.  I give you all the praise and glory Amen.
