Matthew 7:7-14

Matthew 7:7-14

Jesus is speaking to his followers about receiving things that we ask for. Christ compares it to giving things to your children. Verse nine and ten says, “9 Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake"? He says seek Him and in turn you will find Him. This is where the “GOLDEN RULE” comes from. “Do unto others, what you would have them do unto you.” Christ goes on to say that the road leading to Heaven is a narrow road. This means that following Christ is not easy. If we are honest, it is harder than living life outside of salvation. There is only one way to Heaven, but Christ promises that it is full of life.

Any parent can relate, if your child asks for food, you won’t give them a soccer ball right? The bible says the Lord supplies all of our needs according to His riches and glory! It is ok to ask God for things. God loves us and we are His children. Just as a father looks at his son or daughter, and desires to give them everything they need, God the Father does the same for us.

God, thank you for all you have done. I pray your will is what I seek. As I seek you Father, reveal more of Yourself to me. I want to know more about who You are and what Your plans are for me. You have a plan for me that was laid out before I was even born. I want what I do to align with the plans and gifts You have for me. Keep me on the narrow path that leads to life. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN!
